Hi, Latham Thomas again, and here were are in our final video. Let’s talk labor.
Here are some things I want you to remember: stay calm, stay active and stay well-nourished.
Pack your birthing bag ahead of time with all sorts of things you may need during your labor. You can pack pictures, oils, comfy socks and sweaters.
For labor, make sure you have adequate food and drink. Labor is serious work–the hardest work for the best payoff.
Props like a birthing ball make it so much easier to get in comforting positions during your labor. Let’s try it out!
This movement is called the hip swivel and can be done alone or supported. It’s a great movement for helping to ease the baby down into the bow of the pelvis during labor. It also provides a sense of relief during contractions. Practice getting comfortable with your birthing ball before the big birthday.
Before you deliver, it’s great to check out a breastfeeding class or a breastfeeding support group.
The more you know, the more confident you will be. These classes will teach proper latching techniques, various holds, but, most importantly, provide you with resources for support–like a lactation consultant.
Make sure you find a pediatrician that you feel comfortable with and trust for your baby’s first visit.
Thanks for spending time with me during your pregnancy. May you have a healthy and happy baby. I wish you a beautiful life together.
